🌀 What comes first the thought or the emotion?

Hello everyone!

Welcome to your Weekly Insights.

What comes first, thought or emotion?

Has this ever been something you have considered?

The reason I ask is because it can be so easy to live our entire lives pulled around by thoughts and emotions that aren’t even ours!

I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. You wake up stressed, you go through your day stressed and you go to bed stressed.

Entire days and weeks can go by without a joyous day. Without a day where we were genuinely happy to be alive!

So, maybe looking at thoughts and emotions in this way could be helpful:

Thought directs emotion while emotion colours thought.

Thought directs the current of emotion while emotions add depth and feeling to thought.

Consider how you wake up and enter your day.

Depending on what thought arises, or depending on what emotional state you’re in, your emotions or thoughts will follow suit.

So it may not be about what comes first, it’s more about recognizing that regardless of what comes first we are responsible for it.

What do you think? Let me know!

Living in Alignment Meditation

🧘 Using your heart as the seat of your experience

Your heart can be the seat of your experience.

The same way you sit in the driver’s seat and move your car around as it takes you where you need to go.

You can learn to sit in your heart as you move through life.

Your heart can act as a stainless seat of awareness.

This means that you can go through the ups and downs of life without being damaged by them.

You will learn to create a buffer time before you act impulsively.

And the more you sit in this seat, the less reactive you will become.

The greater that buffer time will become and the more control you will have over your own life experience.

This is why I suggest meditation.

To help us find that seat of the heart and learn to rest in it untouched by mental or physical movement.

This is why our guided meditations mention the heart so much.

Become aware of it, rest in it and you will find ultimate freedom.

See you all next week,

Findlay
